Why Paytm failed and PhonePe succeeded (PM perspective).
5. Paytm tried to do everything like - travel, mall, payments, etc., but Phonepe have a single focus on payment-related features only and over time, they have improved their products well.
4. Changed focus every 6 months - from wallet to UPI to super app to fintech. PhonePe stuck to one vision: "Make digital payments simple.
3. Phonepe has done many strategic tie-ups with multiple companies, like Flipkart, etc.
2. Paytm focused on metro users with complex features. PhonePe targeted Bharat with regional languages and a simple UX.
1. Understood that Indians wanted simple, fast payments - not a super app. Built exactly what users needed, nothing more.

True I’ve observed many companies spreading themselves thin by pursuing too many initiatives instead of focusing on their core strengths. This creates unnecessary noise in their overall business vision and causes them to miss golden opportunities to make their core product a true success.

Gaurav A. But that Doesn't mean Paytm Failed , Business is a long game , nobody knows when Paytm investments will prove their Strategic Decisions ....
Take the example of Nvidia , Before 2021 their shares were only $50 , people thought of them as a 'Graphics Card' company for Gaming 😂.....
But fast forward post AI boom , see how their investments are making sense now !
