Product Managers have an average package of 24 lakh after 2 years of experience. How to transition into Product Management from any role?
This Day 2 of #HelpingAspiringPMs100Days
From my experience, I have helped 100+ students transition into Product Management from any background.
7 things helped me in transitioning into Product Management.
7. If you have experience in any field, try to become a product manager in that field because you are aware of many advance things in that field.
6. You can create a side project to show the company. Let’s take an example, you are planning to become a product Manager in E-Commerce, then you can start a D2C store by creating a website and an app. It will show that you understand the basis of how the e-commerce industry works to company.
5. Improve your written communication. It will help you write documentation (PRD).
4. Improve your verbal communication because as a Product Manager, you have to present the work of your developers to senior management or the Client.
3. Customer Interviews: When I was a new PM, I remember I loved conducting customer interviews and understanding their pain points. Today, I always love talking to users.
2. Create a portfolio so that you can present to interviewer how you can improve any product.
1. Truly speaking, having a good technical understanding of software development will help a lot to become a product manager.
