Last year, a consultant friend bought his dream home in Gurugram, a four-bedroom house for ₹ 4 Crores. He could have been working 12-14 hours a day for years. Promotions, ESOP raises -he got it all. But when I visited, he said something that stayed with me. “Gaurav, I don’t have time to spend with my wife because I have meetings until 3 PM because my client is sitting in New York” About a year ago, A College friend of mine walked away from a $200K USD role in US when his mom had a significant health issue. At that time, he told me - “Gaurav, what is the point of money when you are not close to your loved ones when they need it the most ?” Beyond a certain point, money, fame or success that doesn’t give you the real happiness You will only be happy when you spend time with your closest ones.

Absolutely agree! 💯 If companies and leadership start seeing employees from a human perspective, we can all work productively without sacrificing time with family or well-being. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦💖 Many are leaving jobs just to care for loved ones — not by choice, but because the work culture leaves no room for balance. Especially in India, some leadership forget that employees have a life outside work. 🧠⚖️ Friends working with European clients enjoy better pay and healthier culture. Their managers say things like: “I'm on leave. Let me enjoy my days happily. Will be away from all communication.” And guess what? Their colleagues smile reading it and respect it. 😊✨ But here in India, OOO messages often read: “Out of office but available on phone or WhatsApp. Ping me if urgent, I can jump on a Teams or Google Meet call.” 😓 This isn’t by choice, it’s the environment. A lot can be achieved happily — without burnout — if we create the right culture. 🌿🙏 Let’s rethink how we work.

It’s easy to have such perspectives when you have financial security. For many, the daily struggle is just to meet basic needs. It’s similar to how those who can afford to sit in air-conditioned rooms sipping ₹500 coffee can discuss global warming and carbon emissions, while others are simply focused on earning their next meal.
