I recently spoke with a Product Manager at JIO, and we had an interesting discussion—why isn’t anyone using the JIO app for payments? Why don’t people use the Jio app for payments? Here’s what we discussed 👇 🔹 India loves specialists, not generalists. Jio is known for its telecom and internet services—not for payments or fintech. On the other hand, apps like GPay and PhonePe are built for payments, and they’ve earned trust by doing that one thing really well. So here’s my one takeaway: 💡 Stick to your strengths. It’s great to explore new features and verticals—but always come back to the data. What is your core business? Focus on what users already know and trust you for. Curious to know from all of you— 👉 As a user, what would you like to see improved in the Jio platform?

Such a great point about trust! It’s like asking GPay to launch a telecom service…would people really switch? Sometimes doubling down on what you’re great at wins. Curious—do you think Jio could partner with a payments app instead? 🤔 #productstrategy #usertrust

Totally agree on India trusting specialists. I think Jio Pay could work if it solved one unique pain point... maybe something tied to their existing telecom ecosystem? Like rewards or discounts for mobile users.
