Early-career PMs, here’s something important I wish more people knew about interviews.
Did you ever walk out of an interview thinking: “But I gave the right answer — why was I rejected?”
Here’s the truth: it’s not about the answer.
What interviewers actually look for is:
↳ How you structure your thinking
↳ How you handle ambiguity
↳ How you communicate the path from problem → options → trade-offs → solution
Too many candidates obsess over “getting it right.” But in PM interviews, the process matters more than the final answer.
Think of it this way:
➡️ Someone who knows how to travel can reach any destination.
➡️ Someone who only knows the destination gets stuck after their first trip.
If you’re preparing, don’t just memorize frameworks. Practice thinking out loud and showing your journey.
